We are currently trying to refinish the floors in the school. It is a process that takes time, but it is worth it. We do NOT sand the floors since we do not want a new looking floor. According to past students, Don Harrell would put a new coat of finish on the floors every summer when school was out. This has built up and actually formed a protective coating that is hard as a rock. Sanding does NOT work that well and actually takes longer and costs more.

What we are doing is hand scraping the floors,

This is removing that old dirty layer of old finish and underneath is a floor that looks as it did way back when.
Apply a little finish and you get a beautiful looking floor that still reflects its age.
